After a long 3 year battle with the City and NYParks we have been granted permission by NYCDesign to restore the Mosaic to it's original glory.  Rockaway feels it is particularly important to Remember our 9/11 Heroes with a special and unique memorial befitting our very own amazing Rockaway heros.  From the park inception, NYCParks said they are not in the business of maintaining unique artworks.  With 1500 parks in the City,  they have  their hands full so we, the new Tribute Park Art Conservancy, are on our own with the memorials.  In 2002 the Chamber of Commerce held the art competition and raised all the funds to build not only the WTC artworks but the entire Park as well.  With Hurricane Sandy we thought Parks would devote part of their 2.4 million Park renovation fund to the artworks, but they didn't.

Now it's back in our court to fully fund and restore "our" mosaic.  The Dome was not submerged in storm water and appears sound.
